Dog Park is Now Open
On a glorious fall day, the Lower Macungie Dog Park officially opened on Saturday, 15 October 2016. Approximately 100 dogs and their owners and friends visited the park on opening day and tried out the new park. Also in attendance were township officials and volunteers from Friends of Lower Macungie Dog Park. Light refreshments and dog park t-shirts were available for sale. Membership Applications and Dog Park General Information Packets were distributed. A Name that Dog contest was also held with the winner correctly identifying 26 of the 28 dog breeds.
The park which is open to both residents and non-residents will convert to a fob access system in early November.

Permitting Issue Delays Dog Park - New Locations proposed
The Lower Macungie Commissioners approved funding to build the Township's first dog park in 2016. The park, planned to be located at Camp Olympic hit a snag when the Lehigh County Conservation District ruled that a permit amendment was required prior to starting construction. Township Commissioners asked the Parks and Facilities Committee work with Friends of Lower Macungie Dog Park Committee to identify alternate locations for the dog park. A decision on where to locate the dog park is expected before the end of May. So, although this is a bump in the road, we still expect the dog park will be built in 2016. Check back for updates.
